What is MACH and why does MACH matter?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MACH stands for:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>M<\/strong>icroservices-based<\/li><li><strong>A<\/strong>pplication programming interfaces (API)-first<\/li><li><strong>C<\/strong>loud-native software-as-a-service (SaaS)<\/li><li><strong>H<\/strong>eadless<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>MACH technologies support a composable enterprise in which every component is scalable, easily replaceable and can be continuously improved through agile development to meet evolving business requirements.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The technology is backed by <a href=\"https:\/\/machalliance.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the MACH Alliance<\/a>. This community advocates for open and best-of-breed technology ecosystems and helps enterprises understand, select, and move away from monolithic solutions.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cloudinary-marketing-res.cloudinary.com\/image\/upload\/v1665787230\/tech_stack.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"796\" height=\"483\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Building an Online Store in Under a Month<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Our partners at<a href=\"https:\/\/www.contentstack.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> Contentstack<\/a> initially reached out to the team here at Cloudinary, along with MACH Alliance members, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.algolia.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Algolia<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bigcommerce.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bigcommerce<\/a> to ask if it were possible to build a fictitious online store in 30 days, or less. The goal of the challenge was to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Demonstrate that MACH works and that going headless isn\u2019t as daunting as it sounds.<\/li><li>Build a better composable stack and pinpoint where any issues, problems, or hurdles a brand might encounter when trying to connect their microservices together.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Challenge on! In just 101 working hours our&nbsp; team of six technologists built a functioning, and stylish,swag store.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s how we set it up:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Content<\/strong>. Contentstack provided the store\u2019s central content hub and gave it a unified user experience across our brand\u2019s marketing technology stack.<\/li><li><strong>Search<\/strong>. Algolia optimized how easy it was to give consumers seamless access to our product catalog via AI-powered search, discovery, and recommendations.<\/li><li><strong>Commerce<\/strong>.<strong> <\/strong>BigCommerce<strong> <\/strong>gave us the headless commerce experience that allowed us to plug into other API-driven experiences.<\/li><li><strong>Visual Media<\/strong>. Cloudinary brought in the automation and intelligence to programmatically resize and optimize images and videos to deliver flawless visual experiences to users no matter where they are and what device they\u2019re using.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Future is Composable<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The key takeaway, we determined, from this challenge was that composable architectures are simple to use and enable brands to accelerate time to market by streamlining processes.Other positive side effects include, reduction in costs, the ability to future-proof tech stacks, and an ability to foster deeper engagement with consumers.&nbsp; Had we been stuck using traditional, more monolithic solutions we never would have made our self-imposed deadline.
