# People Search

Cloudinary’s AI-powered **People Search** automatically recognizes and groups individuals across your image library using advanced facial recognition technology. It understands visual identity rather than relying on filenames or metadata, letting you find, review, and manage people in your media at scale.

Through its intuitive visual interface, People Search makes it easy to explore detected faces, view all images associated with a person, and update names and details to improve recognition accuracy and organization.

## Overview

The **People Search** feature combines AI precision with flexible management tools, available both in the Cloudinary Console (Assets product) and through the People Search API. It gives you complete control over how to display, label, and maintain identified individuals across your assets.

With People Search, you can:

* **Manage people**:
  * **View and explore detected people**: Access all detected people, each represented by a thumbnail taken from one of their associated images.
  * **Search and filter efficiently**: Find people by name or status (named, unnamed, or all) to focus on labeled individuals or identify unnamed clusters for review.
  * **Manage person details**: Assign or update a person's name to keep your collections well-organized.

* **Manage a person's images**:
  * **Preview linked assets**: Access all images associated with each detected person.
  * **Select a person's cover image**: Choose which image to use as the cover thumbnail for that person.

Whether through the Cloudinary Console or the People Search API, you can maintain clean, searchable collections of identified individuals, enhancing media organization and streamlining facial-recognition–based workflows.

## Using the People Search API

The People Search API is part of the [Admin API](admin_api) and enables you to retrieve and manage people-related data detected through Cloudinary's facial recognition features. It lets you work with clusters of identified individuals and their associated images, helping you organize, label, and refine your collections programmatically.

For the full endpoint reference, including request parameters, examples, and sample responses, see the [people section of the Admin API reference](admin_api#people).

## Limitations

* **Detection availability**: People Search only includes assets uploaded after the feature was enabled for your account.

* **Associations**: The interface currently supports naming and browsing detected people, but it doesn't yet allow confirming or reassigning asset associations.
