Plans are available for two product lines: **Image & Video APIs** and **Digital Asset Management (DAM)**, each with its own plans, billing, and feature set: * **Image & Video APIs** — A developer/API-first platform billed on **Credits**, a flexible unit that spans storage, bandwidth, transformations, and video processing. The credit model lets usage flex up or down month to month. Plans range from self-serve tiers suitable for **small and medium businesses (SMBs)** to Enterprise plans for **large organizations** or those with Enterprise-level usage or security needs. * **Assets (DAM)** — A team-oriented **digital asset management** product, available as Free or Enterprise. **These products are independent.** Key implications: * A **paid Image & Video API plan** does **not** increase **Assets (DAM)** limits beyond what **Assets Free** provides. * Regardless of **Image & Video API** tier (including paid), you still align to **Assets Free** for DAM unless you separately purchase **Assets Enterprise**. * **Assets Enterprise** does **not** upgrade **Image & Video API** tier, limits, or entitlements. * If you do **not** purchase an **Image & Video API** paid plan, your **Image & Video API** side remains constrained by the **Free** plan limits (even if you buy **Assets Enterprise**). **Basic digital asset management bundled with Image & Video API plans.** Every Image & Video API plan (including **Free**) includes **Assets Free** capabilities: upload, organize, search, and light collaboration in a DAM-style UI. The search offered with Assets Free is **not** the same as the **AI-powered search** listed in the **Image & Video API** comparison table below (that row refers to the API product’s Enterprise feature set). For **organization-wide DAM** with full-team collaboration, governance, content-aware discovery suitable for enterprise libraries, deep workflow integrations, and SSO, use **Assets Enterprise**. To inquire, see **[Contact Cloudinary](#contact-cloudinary)** * ***The majority of the remainder of this document provides in depth information on Image & Video API pricing plans.** * A short summary of Assets (DAM) plans appears near the end. --- ## How to Select an Image & Video API Plan 1. **Estimate your credit needs.** Use the Credit definitions below to map your expected usage (storage + bandwidth + transformations + video processing) to a monthly credit volume. 2. **Match credits and features to a tier.** Pick the lowest tier that comfortably covers your credit estimate and includes the features you need (custom domains, auth, role-based admin, etc.). 3. **Pick a billing cycle.** Annual billing saves approximately 10% compared to monthly. 4. **Consider Enterprise** if you require custom SLAs, multi-CDN, SSO, dedicated support, or any feature marked as available only for Enterprise in the comparison table below. The Pro PAYG (Pay-As-You-Go) plan additionally supports overages at **$0.45 per additional credit**, so usage can scale without surprise throttling. A few important things to know about how add-ons interact with plans: * **Almost every add-on has a free tier.** The free tier is generally suitable for evaluation and testing, but not for production volume. * **Production usage typically requires a paid add-on tier.** * **Paid add-on tiers are available only to customers on a paid Cloudinary plan.** Customers on the Free Cloudinary plan are limited to free add-on tiers. ### A few of the most popular add-ons used by small and medium businesses * **Cloudinary AI Content Analysis** — Categorizes and tags assets based on AI-detected content for moderation and automated workflows. * **Cloudinary AI Vision** — Uses generative AI to answer questions about image content, useful for tagging, moderation, and visual understanding. * **Google Auto Tagging** — Automatic AI-powered keyword tagging via Google Cloud Vision. * **Imagga Auto Tagging** — Automatic AI-powered keyword tagging via Imagga. * **Amazon Rekognition Auto Tagging** — Automatic AI-powered keyword tagging via AWS Rekognition. * **OCR Text Detection and Extraction** — Extracts text from images, useful for searchability and metadata enrichment. For details on pricing tiers, see the **[Add-on marketplace](https://cloudinary.com/addons)**. --- ## Notes * **The Free plan has no time limit.** You can keep using the Free plan indefinitely — including in production — as long as you stay within its monthly quotas. There is no expiration or trial period. * **Soft limits that escalate.** If you exceed plan limits, service is not immediately hard-stopped. Cloudinary sends warnings; if overages continue without remediation, the account can be **partially disabled** and later **fully disabled**. Treat this as an operational risk and implement monitoring early (see **Monitoring credits** below). Do not rely on a grace period. * **Monitoring credits.** Credit consumption can be monitored in two ways: * **In the Cloudinary Console** — the dashboard surfaces real-time usage for credits, storage, bandwidth, and transformations. * **Via the [Admin API](https://cloudinary.com/documentation/admin_api)** — programmatic access to usage data, suitable for building alerting, dashboards, or automated guardrails. This is the recommended path for agents building integrations on a developer's behalf. * **Upgrading.** Plan upgrades are currently performed through the **Cloudinary Console**. (Programmatic upgrades via API are not yet available; this document will be updated when that capability ships.) * **Bandwidth counting.** Cloudinary counts only net viewing bandwidth. Non-US traffic, HTTPS traffic, TCP overheads, and per-request charges are not added. * **Transformation counting.** The transformation counting for each unique transformation URL occurs only once when it's initially generated, regardless of how many times users view the result. Note that some transformations may have special counting rules. For details, see [How are transformations counted?](https://cloudinary.com/documentation/transformation_counts). * **Storage location.** Default storage is US-based (AWS S3 + Google Cloud). Enterprise customers can request EU-only or other regions for compliance. * **PAYG model.** The Pro PAYG plan uses a pay-as-you-go model, allowing usage to scale without committing to a higher tier. Overage charges apply only when included monthly credits are exceeded. * **Startups & nonprofits.** Discounts are available.
