# Image & Video APIs overview


Cloudinary Image and Video (Programmable Media) is a software–as-a-service (SaaS) solution for developers providing APIs that enable you to automate the entire lifecycle of your image and video assets.  These APIs include dedicated [Cloudinary Image](cloudinary_image) and [Cloudinary Video](cloudinary_video) transformation, optimization, and delivery capabilities, as well as cross-media APIs for [uploading](upload_images), [managing and analyzing assets](asset_management), and [managing your account](account_management).  

You can combine these APIs to automate almost any imaginable image or video use-case.
