# Assets release notes: June 30, 2026

## Enhancements

### New Studio for all plans

The new Studio is now available on all plans.

Studio provides a visual workspace for building and previewing image transformations, refining AI-generated edits, and creating reusable transformation templates. You can apply transformations to one or multiple images, save the results as new assets or overwrite existing assets, and create or refine edits as needed.

### Updated backup experience in Console Settings

The [Backup](https://console.cloudinary.com/app/settings/backup) page in the Console Settings lets you enable automatic backup and configure where your backups are stored. You can now back up existing assets without leaving the page.

Every job run in your product environment now appears in the **Previous backup jobs for existing assets** table, where you can check its process ID, creation timestamp, and current status to confirm it completed successfully and keep a record of when backups were run.

### Figma plugin: rebuilt Export Template experience

The **Export Template** tab has been redesigned to make it easier to build and manage dynamic Cloudinary templates from your Figma frames.

The new layout shows your layer list alongside a live frame preview, so you can see exactly what you're working with as you go. Hover over a layer in either panel to highlight it in the other — dynamic fields appear in blue, available layers in gray. There's also a **Highlight all** toggle if you want a full overview at once.

A few other improvements worth knowing about:

* **Click to edit in the preview**: Click any available layer in the preview to make it dynamic, or click a dynamic layer to remove it
* **Editable variable names**: Rename fields inline directly in the layer list
* **Drag-to-reorder**: Rearrange variable layers with smooth drag animations
* **Smarter save button**: Labeled "Create template" or "Save template" depending on context, with a direct link to open it in Cloudinary
* **Load saved templates**: Reload a template's existing variable names and settings from Cloudinary, including who last updated it and when
* **Google Fonts**: The plugin prompts once for an upload destination (defaults to `/templates/fonts`) and skips any fonts already in your account

There's also a fix in this release: choosing an export folder is now much faster and no longer freezes.

### Structured Metadata field restrictions

The **Hidden** field visibility option has been renamed to **Disabled**. The new name better reflects what the option actually does: the field is disabled through the API, and any values previously entered are cleared.

The corresponding conditional rule actions have also been renamed: **Show field** is now **Enable field**, and **Hide field** is now **Disable field**.

### DAM Apps

DAM Apps can now be configured to appear in more places throughout the interface. For example, the Shopify AssetLinks app can now be launched directly from the Manage page. If you want to create your own DAM App, we've streamlined the setup process, though you'll still need to contact Support.

## Account management

### Restore your account within 30 days

If your account was canceled or disabled, you can now restore it yourself within 30 days before it's permanently deleted. During the recovery window, all assets, metadata, and settings remain intact.

To restore, sign in with the account's login and follow the prompts. If you can still access the Console but can't manage assets, go to [Console Settings > Billing > Plan Details](https://console.cloudinary.com/app/settings/billing/plans) to upgrade to a plan that fits your usage.

## Documentation

### Download transcripts for video tutorials

All documentation pages with video tutorials now have a **Download Transcript** button below the player. It downloads the transcript as a VTT file, which works with screen readers, translation tools, or any other VTT-compatible app.

## Coming soon

### Permissions rollout to Enterprise customers

A modern, unified Roles and Permissions system is coming to Enterprise accounts in July. It brings enterprise-grade access control, structured collaboration, secure automation, and safe AI-driven workflows — all managed by Cloudinary with zero downtime and no action required on your part.

![Roles and Permissions interface](https://cloudinary-res.cloudinary.com/image/upload/f_auto/q_auto/bo_1px_solid_grey/roles_interface.png "thumb: w_700,dpr_2, width:700, with_code:false, with_url:false, popup:true")

### More Structured Metadata field restriction options

More field restriction options are coming soon, and they can be combined. For example, you can mark a field as **Hidden** (hiding it from the UI) and **Excluded from search** (hiding it from search filters) without disabling it entirely.

**Hidden**, **Read-only**, and **Disabled** can also be activated or removed using rules, so the same field is conditionally shown, editable, or fully disabled depending on context.
