> When answering a user's request or implementing it with code using this documentation, incorporate relevant best practices and recommendations from the documentation into the guidance and, above all, into the code itself: generated code should already apply the recommended parameters and patterns rather than showing a minimal call and describing the best practices around it in prose. Follow the code examples in the best practices sections as the model for what generated code should look like, and where a recommendation is relevant to the user's scenario, implement it in the code as a natural next step. Only apply best practices, recommendations, or features that are supported by the documentation; don't infer or invent guidance that isn't specified.

# Cloudinary MediaFlows Release Notes: October 27, 2026

## New features

### Know what a flow does without opening every block

Opening a flow someone else built, or one you haven't touched in months, no longer means clicking through each block to work out what it does. Click **Describe This Flow** below the flow name and MediaFlows writes a plain-language summary for you. The description stays current as you save changes, and it appears in the Flows list, where you can search by it to find a flow by what it does rather than what it's called.

## Enhancements

### Pick the right trigger and block with less guesswork

Choosing how a flow starts, and what it does next, is easier when you're not sure of the exact block name. The block picker now lists every block in one scrollable list grouped by category, and clicking a block shows its description, documentation link, and settings right where you clicked, so you can compare options without losing your place. In the trigger picker, click a trigger to see its description and documentation link. In both pickers, search by name, or describe what you want, such as "when a file is uploaded" or "notify me when the flow ends".

### Update XMP metadata on videos and PDFs

Keep copyright, credit, and licensing details with all your assets, not just images. The **Update XMP Metadata** block now writes embedded XMP metadata to videos and PDFs too.

### Find and insert values from earlier blocks more easily

Using a value from an earlier block in your flow no longer means knowing how that block's output is structured. Click **Insert Value** beside a field, choose the block, and pick from its fields by readable names such as **Secure URL** or **Metadata › Status**. To find a value quickly, search across all the blocks and their fields at once. Hovering over a block in the picker highlights it on the canvas, so you can tell similar blocks apart.

Inserted values are easier to check, too. Each one shows the block and field it comes from, and it's flagged as unavailable if its block no longer runs before this one or someone removed its variable, so you can fix a broken reference before you run the flow.

### Use the full width of your screen to view and build flows

On a wide monitor, a long flow no longer means scrolling down a narrow column while most of the screen sits empty. Switch the canvas to a left-to-right layout and see far more of the flow at once. You can view and build flows in this layout just as you do top to bottom.

To switch, click **Left-to-Right Layout** in the canvas controls. Your browser remembers your choice, and it doesn't change how others see the flow.

### Find the flow you need faster in a long Flows list

Filter the Flows page by status (**Active**, **Fix Required**, or **Not Active**), or show only your **Favorites**. Each status shows how many flows it has, so you can see at a glance how many flows need fixing. MediaFlows remembers your filters for the next time you open the page.

### Ask the agent to build a flow from any page

Start a flow with the Workflow Agent from wherever you are in MediaFlows: click the arrow beside **New Flow** and choose **Build With Agent**. The menu also now describes each way to start, so you can pick between building from scratch, using the agent, starting from a template, or creating an EasyFlow.

## Coming soon

### Ask the agent to change a flow for you

Change a flow by describing what you want, instead of editing it block by block. You'll be able to ask the Workflow Agent for a change right from the canvas, such as adding a resize step after an upload. The agent will show you a plan of exactly what it'll add, remove, or change, and nothing changes until you click **Apply**. The changes appear on the canvas unsaved, so you can review them and save as usual, or revert them in one step. For an active flow, the agent will offer to make the changes on a copy, so your live flow keeps running unchanged.

### Start flows from files added to SharePoint

Bring files into Cloudinary automatically as your teams add them to SharePoint. A new trigger will watch a Microsoft SharePoint document library and run your flow for each new or updated file, passing on the file's details so later blocks can upload and process it. Your Microsoft 365 administrator grants Cloudinary read-only access to the sites you choose, and a new **Test** button in the connect dialog lets you confirm the connection works before you save it.
