Assets billing overview

Last updated: May-05-2026

This guide helps Assets administrators understand how Assets usage relates to your overall Cloudinary account billing and how to monitor Assets-specific activity.

Assets and account plans

Assets (Digital Asset Management) is a Cloudinary product available in two tiers:

Assets tier Description
Assets Free Basic Media Library features for developers. Limited functionality compared to Assets Enterprise.
Assets Enterprise Full-featured DAM solution with advanced collaboration, metadata management, and enterprise-grade capabilities. Available as a custom add-on to any Cloudinary account plan.

Note
Assets Enterprise can be added to any Cloudinary account plan (Free, Plus, Advanced, Advanced Extra, or Enterprise). Your account plan determines your Image & Video API usage limits, while Assets Enterprise provides the full DAM functionality.

How Assets relates to account billing

Assets is primarily a digital asset management tool. Most Assets activities (organizing, previewing, collaborating, managing metadata) do not directly consume account credits.

What counts toward account usage

Storage: All assets stored in your Assets Media Library count toward your account's storage allocation.

Delivery: When assets are delivered outside the Media Library (via public URLs, embedded in applications, or accessed with transformation parameters), standard account transformation and bandwidth usage applies.

Monitoring Assets usage

Assets provides tools to help you understand how your team uses the Media Library and track Assets-specific activity. The monitoring tools available depend on your Assets plan.

Assets Admin Dashboard or Assets Reports

Assets Admin Dashboard provides essential metrics about your Assets usage:

  • Overview of total assets, users, collections, and portals
  • Top 10 most-viewed collections
  • Upload trends over the past 7 days
  • Top 10 most active users

Assets Reports (premium Assets Enterprise feature) offers more comprehensive analytics:

  • Detailed user engagement and behavior patterns
  • Search behavior analysis
  • Most-downloaded assets tracking
  • Collection collaboration metrics
  • Monthly trend data

Note
You have either the Assets Admin Dashboard or Assets Reports, not both. Only users with the Master admin role can access these features. To upgrade from Dashboard to Assets Reports, contact your Customer Success Manager.

Activity Reports

Activity Reports provide detailed audit logs of all Assets activities, including:

  • Account management activities (user and product environment management)
  • Asset uploads, deletions, and metadata updates
  • Collection management activities
  • Actions on tracking-enabled product environments

Use Activity Reports for analyzing asset usage, auditing purposes, or finding details about specific actions (such as which user deleted an asset).

Note
Activity Reports is a premium feature for Assets Enterprise plans. Its availability depends on your account setup. To activate this feature, contact your Customer Success Manager.
