Commerce has outgrown the old monoliths. The next wave is about composable stacks, faster integrations, and partners who can make those shifts real. Partners like Lettuce Commerce, who are helping brands get with the times and get ahead.
Carly Zhang, Channel Director at Cloudinary, and I sat down with Dave Simel, Co-founder and CTO at Lettuce Commerce, to chat about commerce market shifts, working with Cloudinary, and advice for brands navigating the commerce landscape today.
We kicked off the interview by asking Dave for a quick introduction to Lettuce Commerce and what they are best known for.
It’s in their DNA; they have the expertise to advise customers on end-to-end strategy and to build systems that deliver measurable outcomes.
Looking back on this year (yes, we’re nearing the end of 2025), I was curious about Lettuce Commerce’s big bets and main focus areas.
Bringing on additional expertise to build out its integration framework paved the way for Lettuce Commerce to begin its partnership with Cloudinary.
Dave continued with the natural progression of getting into more and more DAM opportunities and how it has allowed them to be successful with Cloudinary.
“We’ll continue to provide the platform and the tools, and Lettuce tells the story of how it all stitches together, whereas digital assets are one part of that overall story. We really need to lean in with Lettuce to make it come to life.
Carly Zhang, Channel Director, Cloudinary
Dave wrapped up by sharing “The Why” behind the recent launch of the Cloudinary DAM + PIM integration…
…and how quickly they were able to launch it.
[I love it, Carly, “a perfect example of strategy meeting execution.” Well said.]
Lastly, I asked Dave if he could give one piece of advice to brands navigating commerce today, what would it be?
[He’s right. Not all things happen at the most convenient time.]
Future-proofing your product catalog can save time and money. Understanding stakeholders’ needs for product information early in the process can help avoid using different repositories, version control issues, integration failures, or other blockers.
Lettuce Commerce embodies what a great partnership is all about: collaboration, purpose, and the need to make things happen. Their Cloudinary integration is a natural extension of that by helping their clients move faster, automate more, and create standout experiences.
As a Certified Delivery Partner, Dave and the Lettuce Commerce team are bringing strategy and expertise to every Cloudinary engagement. And, inspired by the story behind the company name, Dave added, “If you have a complex challenge you’re facing with your digital assets, Lettuce help!”
It was a memorable experience for me, chatting with Dave. I know, we are all excited for the big things ahead!
