It converts HEIF and HEIC photos into formats that everything can open: JPG, PNG or WebP. HEIF is the format recent iPhones save by default, and while it stores photos at roughly half the size of a JPEG, plenty of websites, older applications and Windows tools still refuse it. Upload the file, pick a format and download.
Because HEIF is relatively new and support is uneven. Apple adopted it as the default camera format, but many upload forms, content management systems, printers and older photo editors were written before it existed and simply reject the extension. Yes. HEIC is HEIF with Apple’s naming, and the tool takes both. Whatever your phone or your Mac called the file, drop it in and it will be read. If you want a dedicated page for one specific pair, there are also HEIF to JPG and HEIC to PNG.
JPG when you are emailing the photo or uploading it somewhere that expects a photograph. WebP when it is going on a web page, because it is typically twenty to thirty percent smaller than JPEG at the same quality. PNG when you need a lossless copy or the image has transparency to preserve.
Yes. You can upload HEIF straight to Cloudinary and deliver JPG, WebP or AVIF on the fly, chosen per visitor based on what their browser supports. That is the standard fix for an app that accepts photos from phones, since it removes the conversion step from your own code entirely.
