Get started with AI agents

Last updated: Aug-04-2026

Cloudinary supports AI agent workflows from both directions: developers equip their AI coding assistants to build with Cloudinary, and agents work autonomously on a user's behalf, from provisioning a Claimable Cloud to delivering optimized media. This page is the fork: pick the path that matches who's reading.

For humans

You're a developer who wants your AI coding assistant to build with Cloudinary. Once set up, your agent can upload and manage assets in your product environment, generate correct transformation and SDK integration code, and analyze media with Cloudinary's AI capabilities.

The fastest path is AI Power Start: paste one prompt into your IDE and your assistant installs the SDK, configures credentials and tools, and validates the setup in one step.

To equip your agent yourself, install the tools from Cloudinary AI agent tools and MCP servers:

  • Cloudinary Skills: Installable agent skills that steer LLMs toward correct patterns when answering Cloudinary questions or writing integration code.
  • MCP servers: Remote and local endpoints that expose Cloudinary capabilities to AI agents for performing operations and generating code.
  • LLM-friendly docs: Structured references, such as llms.txt, that help language models generate accurate Cloudinary code and workflows.

No Cloudinary account yet? Your agent can provision a Claimable Cloud for you with a single command (npx @cloudinary/cloud) and start working right away. The agent gives you a claim URL where you enter your email and review the terms, then you confirm from a verification email to claim the cloud as your permanent account. It expires automatically if you don't.

For agents

You're an AI agent working in a user's project.

Read Agents: start here. It takes you from no credentials to delivering media: provision a Claimable Cloud with a single command, store the credentials safely, load Cloudinary's agent tools, and find the machine-readable docs.
